I always wondered how did the unique combination of meat or veggies covered in blankets of maida would be so tempting and lip smacking. To top it up the taste of chutney just gets us all drooling. Momos is the first love of us all. After chicken and mushroom momos I gave a try on beef momos. This definitely turned out to be the best.
Here goes the recipe:
Ingredients for stuffing:
- 1 cup beef mince
- 1 small onion chopped
- 2 cloves garlic chopped
- 1 green chilli chopped
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 Tablespoon Sriracha sauce
- 1 tspn pepper powder
- Spring onions
- Salt for taste
To make stuffing:
- In a wok add 1tbspn oil and fry onions till translucent.
- Add in the minced garlic. Fry till raw smell vanishes.
- Add in the green chillies and mix well.
- Add in the mince and saute. Add pepper powder and the sauces now. Add salt to taste.
- Garnish it with spring onions.
Ingredients for Momo blanket:
- 1 cup and a little more
- Oil and salt for kneading
- Water as required.
To make momo blanket:
- For the maida add salt and water as required.
- Knead the dough till you get a smooth texture.
- Dough should not be too soggy or too dry.
To make momos:
- Pinch out a small ball of the dough and roll flat and thin.
- Take a small portion of the stuffing and place in between the flat dough.
- Now slowly seal the dough.
- There are various ways but the easiest it by closing it first in half moon shape and the joining the two ends and sealing it well.
- Place the sealed momos in the steamer for 10-15 minutes.
- Serve it hot with momo chutney.
